The night time air was heavy, dense because of the city pollution. Tall building that truly scrape the sky linger over the pitch black streets, streets in which lamp lights provided little or no light at all. all the stores where closed that night instead for the ones in the Calband district. the district in which vice roamed freely. the building styles where strikingly similar to those of all major cities in America, cold inhuman steel structures. from the center of the city the urban land scape sprawled in every direction beyond the horizon.
it is in this setting that a Limo appears piercing the cheapness of the streets of Calband. it was a shinny hue of black with silver rims. all the windows on the limo where tint so that the outside world could not see into it. the limo parked for a while. finally it trained its engine off, silence took over and the night stood still. the Limo's lights flash twice, then out of one dark back alleys man appeared. He walked slowly forward careful not to draw attention to himself. a heavy trench-coat lay on his shoulders, the trench-coat stood out in the darkness because of its white shimmer. he quietly made his way to the Limo. when he finally was close to the back door of the limo the window begun to roll down. the man in the trench coat gives off a smile that can only be scene as one of treachery.
"so you want some one to disappear?"
a voice from the limo answers back "no i want everyone to see, so that all will know"
a brief pause soon followed as the trench-coat thought of his answer "its going to cost that much more"
the voice from the limo answered back quickly "that much more is how much i am willing to pay just kill the guy"
the man smiles "Sir, i don't do the killing i just inform the pack"
the limo window rises and the engine turns over. the limo slowly starts to pull away and then it quickens its pace as it disappears in to the darkness. the man was left alone in the darkness.
he smiles again "time to tell people to prepare for the hunt."

Bic: On one of the streets of Calband a under ground hang rests. the place is dimly lit with small candles on several tables surrounding a stage. a small podium rest on the stage. people fill the room from a stair case that leads to the street. quite chatter is spoken as the people Begin to take there seats around each of the tables. finally people begun to settle in. some people remain quite while others continue to chat with one another.
the man from earlier (the one in the white trench-coat) appears on stage. he looks out into the crowd to see if he can spot any familiar faces. he pause for a bit then makes his way to the podium. he grips the top part of the podium and clears his voice, a sign for everyone to be quite. when the chatter dies down the man starts to speak in a low but direct voice.
"I, know why you are all here today. all of you are murders, loners, people who need money, and people who want to be murders, well let me say i would be glad to share with you the job i have just received. of course only one of you can complete. my client knows a man, a man he wants dead. thats a given though, it is how he wants him killed. the man he wants killed needs to be killed in cold blood so all can see. the man's name is Riley he is a cop, there for he may be armed. lets just say Riley is looking for trouble in the wrong places."
he grins "that is all"
the man walks off stage and every begins to chat again

when he walked off the stage after informing everyone of the hunt Labienus, the man in the white trench-coat made his way to the staircase. he moved quickly with great purpose when he reached the top of the stairs he turned to the left and came to an overhang that was over the dimly lit room where he told everyone about the hit. he watch to see if there where any candidates below who would be good assassins.

(interesting plot setup. ok. ill give a go ) Trembling fingers with nails the darkened color of the underworld clutched the bulb of red wine, swirling it until it leaked from the sides. There was a drop of sweat that was forming on her temple, trickling down until it dripped away from her cheek. She was gazing dimly ahead of her, with eyes overrimmed with black rouge, enough to give her a corpse's complexion. "Another drink? Quite a speech. I wonder what will come of it..." A man with dark features towered over her with these words, and he gave a toothy grin toward her that made her shiver with discomfort. He was standing too close, only a foot away, and she felt frighteningly small because of it. He had such big shoes to make him so tall. He was probably, without those big, dark, leaden shoes, only five foot four. But those shoes...and those broad shoulders... She cowered. She swallowed and roughly wiped her soiled lips with the back of her hands. Slamming the glass rather drunkenly on the bar, she turned to the man beside her and turned away, uncertain of who he was and what he wanted. When she had become frustrated enough, she shoved him away and moved closer to a crowd of other women, who were chattering and motioning up toward the man who had given the speech, who was currently observing them all from the stairwell.

Jake was really an odd fellow, among all the other people to hear of the new s of the murder to come he was a rarity. almost uninterested in killing this cop Riley. Jake was a short round man with a very round face. his head was nearly bald so he always dawned a hat or beanie of some sort on it with its usual dull gray color. he wore boots worn from years of use covered by thick overalls. he wore a long gray shirt as well. of all the low lives and murders here he was the least imposing, that is to say he looked more like a dock worker the a cold blooded killer. Jake worked his way making rounds tuning in and out of peoples conversation. he was looking for a quality in people he loomed under them, he was looking for team mates. it would be easier to do a hit with a group then to take a cop on alone who knew this well

Labienus looked down at the mass of heads as they mingled. it was a fun job to watch hounds hunt there prey from a far. sooner or later he thought a few would be put down by there own, its going to happen hounds can't share prey and the prize which comes after the prey. this reminded him he had to go get the money from the business man who put him up to informing the pack. he may just have to use some hounds of his own he thought to himself. he chuckled, the thought of murdering people for money is cold to him now. he wasn't affected by human emotions much any more after the first few murders. a few cut heads and then your heart falls out of your body. Labienus walked back down the stairs, if a few people wanted more info he would be willing to give it. he made his way past the crowds, people whispered among themselves about his past. how shrouded his past was, no one really knew what he use to do just that he killed alot of people to get where he is today. as he made it to the bar asked for some jin the tender gave it to him with out asking for a tip or the price of the drink. Labienus was an odd fellow he looked like a person who had a glass wall around him he was very hard to approach in person with out a drip of sweat running down the back of your neck.

Many in her line of work liked to play up their sophistication, to create for themselves an appearance of someone above average social circles. They liked the prestige, the recognition. But in her experience, few of those individuals lasted long. Oh, sure, she could pull of the top secret agent cliché appearance as well as most, better even. But there were reasons why she was so good at what she did.
Evelyn Jacobs was 20 years of age. Yet because of her slight, fragile appearing build, she could pass as much younger if she wished. She blended. Incredibly well, in fact. In truth, she was a master of disguise. The characters she played ranged from the timid librarian on the way home from work, to the corner prostitute on 3rd and State Street.
Tonight, she was you’re typical public high school punk. Her razor cut short hair, naturally black, was unevenly dyed a nearly fluorescent red that contrasted sharply with the black eyeliner smeared under her gray eyes and that almost matched the busy plaid of the pleated, knee length skirt she wore over dark gray leggings. Her small feet made louder steps than usual, on account of black combat boots, that kept time with the clinking of metal loops and chains attached haphazardly to her skirt and ripped denim jacket.
She paused, scanned the dimly lit room, then continued without hesitation to where Labeinus stood alone at the bar, stoic and imperturbable.
Few things caused Evelyn fear. Labeinus was not one of them. “Anything of interest to me?” she asked in a quiet, disinterested voice as she looked directly into his face.

Labienus slowly sipped his drink and put it down. "you don't at all seemed interested in this information, hound." his eyes shifted to hers with a stare of a dead man "i need some help you give me help and i will give you info on Riley." he seemed determined to get her on his side. Labienus slowly lowered his drink and gave Evelyn a evil grin.

“Hound?” she shot back viciously, “I should think you know me better than to lump me in with all of your pathetic ambitious amateurs. I’m not one of your puppets. “What on earth gives you the idea that I’m even remotely interested in Riley? I play higher than that. Much higher. Some cop who’s got on the bad side of the wrong people isn’t my idea of interesting game. And for your information, I got the run down on Riley a week ago. Not from your petty little announcement. Now,” she added, “what is it you need my help for? This sounds far more intriguing.”

"then why would you talk to me, see you don't need any information because all the information i would be willing to give regard Riley. what else could you possibly want to know hound?" he took a long sip of his jin and closed his eyes "we are all hounds in the eyes of the hunted and that is all that needs to be." he looked hopelessly into the crowds of people.

"I wouldn't waste my time with you or your weak metaphores if I didn't know you had something more worth while. Why do you think I skipped your little speech? Now. Get back to the point. What is it that you want my help in? It's usually something good when you condesend to ask. I'm listening. Go on." She smiled inwardly. In spite of his arrogance, she could not deny that she liked the man. He had experience that even she had to respect. He was not like others who carried themselves as though the world owed them everything though they had earned nothing. Labeinus' reputation was authentic. And that was what she valued.

"would you like to know..." Labienus looked at her with his hollowed green eyes "the person who ordered the hit. he is a shady character, i know alot about his past problems and he is known to bail on contracts. i thought that since i would be the ordering the contract that he would honor his side of the deal" Labienus gave a low chuckle, and then finished off his drink "the moron doesn't even see me as a treat, so i need to put him in his place. there are two things i could do. first, i could kill him, but that would make it hard to get money. or, i could kill someone one close to him and send him a message and risk getting marked by him for an assassination." he looked around the room and then lead his head into hers "got any ideas?" he made a sad attempt at a smile.

By the time he had finished this little spiel, Evelyn was thoroughly interested.
"Don't try to smile like that in public, Labeinus. You're not very good at it and it only makes you look rediculous. Hardly the image you're trying to maintain among such illustrious company," she added, her voice thick with sarcasam as she motioned in the direction of the present crowd with a pale hand. “There is another option,” she went on. “and elimination is so…,” she paused as though searching for the right word, her mouth an innocent smile for effect, “‘final’ a move. It leaves no room for keeping things, well, interesting, since that seems to be the word of the evening. Dropping a necessary hint of a reminder can often be more effective than the actual reminder itself. And of course, there’s always the added bonus of evading the inconvenience of attempts at retaliation.”
Her eyes drifted from the face of Labeinus to scan the various individuals that littered the room. For no reason in particular, they came to rest upon a young woman with dark fingernails and of an excessively nervous appearance.
She continued. “Leave this minor problem of yours to me, Labeinus. I’ll even give you a discount: a large one in fact. All I want is ten percent of the price on Riley’s head.”
“Now,” she said, looking back at Labeinus, “tell me how long you expect this Riley to evade your ‘hounds’ as you insist on calling them. That’ll give me a timeframe with which to work in. Just so that they'll be sure to get their payment in time.”
Evelyn watched his features work as he mulled over her proposal.

Labienus was silent in thought for awhile he was going over all the info. the group this time was very large and diverse, it take possibly 2 weeks to kill Riley, because they would all have to go through each other first. he spotted Jake out of the side of his eye, he was making a phone call, maybe he would be the one to kill Riley. but, it did not matter much to Labienus he had to worry about the pay out, originally Labienus planed to go half and half on the money now he had to give 10% to Evelyn. this meant that he only could get 40% of the cash. still quite a bit of money, he made a note of the actual amount in his head. his attention now diverted to Jake again as he left the dingy place. he had a odd feeling that this was a different murderers game that something bad was going down on all sides. lots of body bags where sure to show up by the end of this "task". the morticians where sure to be happy by the end, he laughed, what a sadistic thought.
he snapped out of his thought, then looked at Evelyn "hmm... i would guess some where around two to three weeks, that seems fair. this isn't the best litter of hounds I've seen but they aren't morons. at least one I've seen has smarts from what i have seen." the bags under his eyes begun to hang heavy. "well stay in contact, i think you are a bit smarter then a hound, woman, and i see you have respect as well." he put a cell phone on the counter in front of him "if you need to contact me, call me on this cell and only this one, lets just say i have hounds after me as well and i don't like to leave a track or smell." Labienus got up slowly and begun to walk away.

Jake left the place quick. he had a task at hand and he was not going to stop until he did it. he walked down the dark streets for sometime, then he went down a few dark alleys. he was walking at a very fast pace as if he was trying to lose a tail. when he finally felt safe Jake stopped.
he pulled out his cell phone. he looked at it for awhile then he finally dialed the number. the phone rang for awhile then a tired voice answered "O'neal residents who is it?" Jake spoke in a low voice with a hint of coldness in it "is this Riley O'neal?" the voice seemed confused "yes" "how much is your life worth to you? how much would you pay to save your life?"

Labienus tighten his white overcoat and begun to walk quickly outside the dingy place. When he reached the door he looked over his back to make sure no one was following him and continued out wards into the night. Labienus stopped abruptly, something was wrong. He stood under a street lamb for awhile looking in every direction then a voice rose from the darkness "Labienus, Labienus... still in the contract killing business i see." Labienus reached into his coat for a weapon "No need for that" the voice said proudly "i ain't going to kill you." Labienus closed his eyes and stood defeated under the light "I'm at a lost for words, but i do know who you are and why you are here..." Jake walked out of the darkness, his steps where soft. Labienus looked at Jake "I knew it was you, Jake. I know all about you and what you do." He took along pause and glared down Jake "your a contract killer, you find out about contracts, then you find the guy that is marked tell him you can protect him for a vast amount of money. then, turn around and kill him after you get your money" Labienus curled his lip "you don't play the game fair" Jake smiled and brushed his head with his hand "its true, I don't play fair. But, lets just say I am giving you fair warning. Stay away from this one Labienus or you might end up on the wrong side of one of your hunt." The night was filled with silence Labienus stood there, what could he say. what words could possibly settle this slight conflict? Labienus hung his head down looking at Jake's feet. He scrambled over words in his mind and then finally he found the words that he was looking for. He picked his head up and looked straight through Jake "Your a hound Jake, and sooner or later you'll be put down." Jake shifted at the remark he didn't know how to respond. his face twitched and then he just gave a slightly fearful smile and stepped back into the darkness. Labienus waited till he knew that Jake was long gone and then begun to continues on his way.

Jake was a smart person. he knew how to manipulate a situation and he was good at it. After leaving Labienus under the cold light of the street light he darted for the hang out. Jake had knew what the women looked like the one that was talking to Labienus, if he could sway her to his side he would have a powerful ally.
Jake keyed into the look on Labienus face and knew that he had a trust in her, if he could take this trust he could use it to kill Labienus and get the money all of it. he could just make it seem like he was trust worthy and back stab her later, it didn't matter to him. he enjoyed cutting people down, although he wasn't good at it.
He stood in the door way of the hang out and looked out into the crowd trying to see if he could spot the woman. he went down into the crowd he had a feeling he found the right one. but, it was just another on looker at the meeting, he politely said sorry and continued to look.
