Ooc: This is written from Tobias’ point of view. I got a huge amount of inspiration for this post from the song included within the post. Special thanks, even though I know they won’t ever know I used the song, to Linkin Park.
It had been days, weeks maybe, since they had deserted the house.
And as usual, the winter seemed to be setting in on those who felt no heat, but only cold. A single shiver ran down Tobias’ spine, the cold getting to him. He gathered his cloak around him, trying to stop any whisp of heat escaping from the heavy material.
He looked at the group, his coven, his family, trudging though wherever they were at the moment. They had not stopped more than they needed to, never ceasing to move away from the land that banished them the moment they arrived, and had succeeded in exiling them once they were discovered. As they walked, the night seemed to turn into a flurry of white. European weather at its finest, and soon all around them was white with powdered snow.
This is my December
This is my time of the year
This is my December
This is all so clear
Tobias shut his eyes as they walked, grabbed his lover close and tried to block out the cold, his memories doing the very trick. He dug deep, and soon found himself a shadow within his memories, watching them from a distance.
The first time he felt snow. He felt nothing, nothing but cold. Was it just his now cold blood, or was the winter overtaking his systems? He looked back up to the windows of the mansion, hoping to see Anabelle, but then again, this memory was before he met her. Before he was all together, when he was alone…
This is my December
This is my snow covered home
This is my December
This is me alone
His heart lurched and threw him back into reality. He would surely miss that home. It was all he knew of life, all that he had lived. But to know that it was now nothing but smashed wood and broken memories, his heartstrings pulled, forming a tightess in his chest. A pain.
And I just wish that I didnt feel
like there was something I missed
and I give it all away
just to have somewhere to go to
give it all away to have someone to come home to
He dug deeper into his memories, but found that not to be helpful. His mind, to shattered from the night, stayed in reality. They continued to walk, and Tobias continued to think. His thoughts were deceiving, all this pain over something in the past. He was just pretending he needed it, when, as he looked around, saw what he needed.
He saw Adrien and Sienna, working against the cold. There was Andrew and Serafina, one experienced and one brand new, yet still the same. There was Winter, the one who tried to kill them all, walking silently along. Although he did not like him, he was a part of them all. And there was Anabelle, his love who would always be there. This was his life. This was his family.
This is me pretending
This is all i need
“This is my December,” he whispered quietly into the cold winter night, closing his eyes and walking along.
